BASIC COURSE ON THE POTTER'S WHEEL- LEARN THE BASICS TO MAKE YOUR OWN CERAMICS ON THE WHEEL IN OUR 2-HOUR BASIC COURSE.
This basic course is suitable for anyone who wants to test their skills on the wheel. During the two-hour session you will learn the basic skills of pottery making. The aim is to get a feel for the ceramic material, to live out hidden creativity to take home a self-made ceramic vessel at the end.
FIRST SESSION: 2 hours. Regular price 80CHF per person. Maximum number of participants = 3. The session includes a brief introduction to the process of ceramic making and the ceramic material, preparing and kneading the clay yourself (3kg of our stoneware clay per person), demonstration and instruction on the wheel, working on the blank(s) (additions such as stamping impressions or modelling), and finally cleaning the workplace. Included in the price is the finishing/firing of two ceramic pieces per person. If you have created more and would like to have more than two fired, then you pay 15CHF for each additional piece.
SECOND SESSION (OPTIONAL): This is held in the following days after the first session. There must be at least three days in between, as your blanks must first dry and then be raw-fired, before they can be glazed. The entire range of glazes from Zermatt Keramik is available to you for this purpose. During this time, you glaze at our regular rates of 10CHF per hour.
If it is not possible for you to visit our studio a second time within the following 30 days, you can also inform our ceramist during your first visit of the glaze you would like your ceramics to be glazed with after firing. If you wish to leave the glazing to our ceramist, an additional charge of 5CHF per piece will apply.
Completion/collection/shipment of the ceramic pieces: After your final visit to our ceramic studio in Furi, the pieces will be ready for personal collection after two weeks. If you are unable to collect the ceramics in person and we send them by post with the additional insurance "FRAGILE", you will be charged shipping costs of 15CHF-30CHF. This depends on the weight of the pieces created. Whether shipping is possible depends on the nature of the ceramics. Furthermore, Zermatt Ceramics does not accept any liability for possible delivery of damaged goods by the postal service, despite additional insurance "FRAGILE".
This course is normally offered from Monday to Friday. Weekend sessions are also available on request. Please do not hesitate to contact our ceramist directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 079 952 48 58 with any questions or to make a booking.
We look forward to your questions and a creative time together in our beautiful studio in Furi.
